BG Note | Policy - It's Official (Texas Special Session)!

Texas Gov. Greg Abbott's call for a Special Session was made official on Monday. This formal declaration of priorities tracks closely to the unofficial list he delivered in early June. And with an official declaration Texas legislators can now file bills for their pending return to the Lege (Note: Don't call the Texas Capitol "The Hill"). As discussed before, only bills tied the listed priorities can be heard, but the governor is free to add to that list as he pleases.

From the Governor's office:

Governor Greg Abbott today issued the first proclamation for the upcoming special session to extend the expiration dates for the Texas Medical Board, the Texas State Board of Examiners of Psychologists, the Texas State Board of Examiners of Marriage and Family Therapists, the Texas State Board of Examiners of Professional Counselors, and the Texas State Board of Social Worker Examiners. As soon as the Texas Senate passes bills to extend the expiration dates of these agencies, Governor Abbott will immediately issue a supplemental proclamation adding all previously announced items to the call. View a draft of the supplemental proclamation that Governor Abbott intends to issue once Sunset legislation passes in the Senate.
